HEC Awards Rapid Technology Transfer Grant (RTTG) To IoBM

Karachi, The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) has received a significant Rapid Technology Transfer Grant (RTTG) from the Higher Education Commission for an innovative project aimed at developing a state-of-the-art Textile Waste Recycling Machine. This initiative, led by Dr. Jamshaid Iqbal from the Department of Environment and Energy Management, focuses on sustainable solutions for recycling textile waste into usable materials.

According to Institute of Business Management, the research project seeks to transform textile waste into high-quality raw cotton and other fluffy materials. These recycled products are intended for diverse applications ranging from raw materials for the textile industry to components in household products like pillows, quilts, and even floor mats. This venture not only promises substantial environmental benefits by reducing waste but also showcases the versatility of the recycled products.

In an effort to enhance the project’s scope and impact, IoBM has partnered with SAMA Packaging Machines and Processing Systems, led by Mr. Shahzad Umar SAMA. The collaboration was highlighted during Mr. SAMA’s visit to IoBM on May 8th, 2024, where he met with President Talib Syed Karim and other key figures such as the Director of ORIC and the Head of Corporate Affairs. Discussions focused on the operational aspects of the machine and the broader implications for both the domestic and international markets.

This project not only represents a technological advancement in recycling but also a meaningful step towards strengthening the ties between academia and industry in Pakistan. The forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SAMA and IoBM will formalize this partnership, aiming to synergize expertise and resources for mutual growth and innovation in sustainability practices.
