Lahore, The Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) at the University of the Punjab conducted a webinar on “The Impact of Artificial Intelligence Tools on Academic Writing Practices,” featuring Dr. Aamir Arsalan from Fatima Jinnah Women University as the guest speaker.
According to University of the Punjab, the seminar provided an in-depth exploration of how AI tools can assist in academic writing and research. Dr. Aamir Arsalan engaged participants with interactive discussions, starting with queries about their expectations from AI in academic writing. He demonstrated various AI tools such as Connected Papers, which visually aids in exploring scientific paper development, and AI-driven research assistants like Consensus GPT and Scholar GPT, which help in scholarly research and literature reviews.
Dr. Arsalan also addressed ethical considerations and common misconceptions regarding the use of AI in research, emphasizing that AI should enhance rather than replace human creativity. The seminar concluded with an extensive Q and A session, where students’ questions about employing AI tools in their research were thoroughly discussed. The event was well-attended by undergraduates and postgraduate students from various departments, reflecting a keen interest in integrating AI into academic practices.
