Calls for Improved Burn Treatment Facilities Across Sindh Highlighted by Pasban Democratic Party Leader

Karachi, in response to a recent gas cylinder accident in Hyderabad, the need for better burn treatment facilities across Sindh has been brought to the forefront.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Chairman Altaf Shakoor has expressed deep concern over the lack of burn centers in Sindh outside of Karachi, especially following the severe incident in Hyderabad that resulted in numerous burn injuries. The victims had to be transported to Karachi for treatment, underscoring the deficiency in local healthcare services. Despite the presence of two Medical University Hospitals in Hyderabad and Jamshoro, local facilities failed to provide the necessary care for burn victims. Shakoor pointed out that while there are several teaching hospitals in the province, none outside Karachi are equipped to handle severe burn cases.

Shakoor criticized the overall state of health services in Sindh, attributing the operational success of the sole functioning burns center in Karachi to non-governmental organization support rather than government management. He highlighted the significant budget allocated to Sindh’s health sector, which he claims is largely misappropriated by corrupt elements within the province. Shakoor called for an urgent overhaul of health facilities throughout Sindh and advocated for the implementation of a comprehensive healthcare audit system to ensure proper use and maintenance of the healthcare system.
