Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Iqbal of Lahore Selected as Mentor for Commonwealth Sport Women’s Leadership Program

Lahore, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Iqbal, Head of the Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education at the University of Lahore, has been named a mentor for the 2023-2024 Commonwealth Sport Women’s Leadership Program. This selection highlights her role in promoting leadership and development within the sports sector.

According to The University of Lahore, Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Iqbal’s involvement in the program as a mentor for Anna Williams from Sierra Leone is part of a larger initiative aimed at empowering women from the Commonwealth to become key leaders in sports. This leadership program is designed to foster personal development and create influential change agents in the sports industry.

Prof. Dr. Yasmeen Iqbal and her mentee are part of a distinguished group that includes 13 women from various universities across the Commonwealth. This mentorship underlines the commitment of the University of Lahore’s Department of Sports Sciences, led by Dean Prof. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed, to international collaboration and women’s empowerment in sports.

In her comments to media coordinator Perwaiz Ahmed Shaikh, Prof. Dr. Iqbal expressed pride in her role and highlighted the significance of this global recognition for Pakistan.
