Pakistan Olympic Association Hosts Integrity Workshop to Promote Fair Play in Sports

Lahore, The Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) today launched the “POA Integrity Workshop: Fair Play and Beyond,” aimed at advancing sportsmanship among athletes, coaches, and officials. The event, held in Lahore, attracted approximately 90 participants dedicated to upholding the principles of integrity in sports.

According to Pakistan Olympic Association, the workshop featured key speakers including Ms. Rida Ahmed from the International Olympic Committee, who emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity within the sporting world. As the Awareness Raising and Capacity Building Manager at the Olympic Movement unit, Ahmed’s insights were particularly impactful on the first day, and she is expected to give an exclusive presentation on the workshop’s second day, scheduled for May 16, 2024.

Dr. Syed Meesaq Hussain Rizvi, Chairman of the POA Medical Commission, delivered a lecture on Anti-Doping Measures for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics, highlighting the latest protocols and the necessity for clean competition. Furthermore, Dr. Asad Abbas Shah, Secretary of the POA Medical Commission, conducted a practical demonstration on Result Management for Doping Tests, elucidating the process and reinforcing fair play principles.

The POA views this workshop as a foundational element of its commitment to transparency and fairness in sports. By providing essential knowledge and tools, the organization aims to cultivate a sustainable culture of integrity. The workshop continues tomorrow with more educational lectures and opportunities for participant engagement, fostering a proactive approach to upholding the Olympic spirit.
