Karachi, At a grand Jalsa in Khairpur, Sindh, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, delivered a stirring address this afternoon, promising the establishment of a real “Awami Raj” (People’s Rule) in Pakistan following the upcoming general elections on February 8. Zardari confidently declared that the PPP is poised to form the government, with its members occupying key leadership positions including the Prime Minister and all four Chief Ministers.
According to Pakistan People’s Party, the PPP Chairman, while speaking at the historic Jalsa held in Khairpur in anticipation of the general elections, expressed his belief that the people of Khairpur have already decisively supported the PPP. He urged the public to maintain their enthusiasm on election day, emphasizing that such spirit could make it impossible for any force to hinder the PPP’s progress.
In his speech, Chairman Zardari highlighted the current challenges facing Pakistan, including rising unemployment, inflation, poverty, and a resurgence of terrorism. He criticized the politics of division and revenge practiced by other politicians, which he claimed had fractured society. Contrasting this, Zardari pledged a politics of unity and problem-solving, dismissing other parties for lacking ideology and understanding of people’s sufferings.
Reiterating his commitment to the promises made by his grandfather Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and mother Benazir Bhutto, Zardari promised to fight against inflation, unemployment, and poverty. He presented his 10-point election manifesto as an economic pact with the people, promising to fulfill Bhutto’s vision of “Roti, Kapra Aur Makaan” (Food, Clothing, and Shelter).
The manifesto includes promises such as doubling salaries, providing free and quality education and health facilities, free electricity to poor families, enhancing the Benazir Income Support Program, and launching various welfare cards and programs. Zardari highlighted the contrast between his plans and the unfulfilled promises of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, specifically mentioning Khan’s failure to build the promised houses.
Further, Zardari criticized the current caretaker government for halting development projects in Sindh and vowed to shut down 17 ministries post-18th Amendment, reallocating their budgets for public welfare. He appealed to the public to support the PPP in the upcoming elections, promising to end divisive politics and focus on serving the people.
The Chairman also conducted a public oath-taking ceremony for PPP candidates from Khairpur and Sukkur districts, including notable figures such as Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Nasir Hussain Shah, emphasizing their commitment to serving the people and avoiding nepotism and broken promises.
