Islamabad, In a significant diplomatic engagement, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), met with Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan, at the Malaysian Embassy in Islamabad. The meeting focused on reinforcing the robust relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia, particularly in humanitarian efforts.

According to Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the discussions highlighted the shared commitment and mutual affection between the two countries. High Commissioner Mazlan expressed appreciation for PRCS’s remarkable efforts during emergencies and disasters, particularly noting the organization’s response to the catastrophic floods in Pakistan the previous year. He acknowledged the collaborative aid efforts between Malaysia and Malaysian NGOs like Mercy Malaysia and Yayasan Taqwa Malaysia in assisting the flood-affected families in Pakistan.

Chairman Laghari briefed the High Commissioner about his interactions with Malaysian delegates during the Movement Induction Course organized by the International Federation of the Red Cross Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) in Malaysia. He emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between both National Societies for future humanitarian collaborations. Furthermore, he outlined PRCS’s extensive rehabilitation efforts, including constructing permanent shelter houses and installing solarized water filtration plants in the flood-affected areas.

In response, High Commissioner Mazlan expressed his intention to work with the Malaysian government to explore new humanitarian initiatives. He showed keen interest in fostering stronger collaboration and coordination among the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society, and the relevant Malaysian NGOs.

Chairman Laghari extended an invitation to the High Commissioner to visit field areas in Sindh and Balochistan to observe PRCS’s programs and projects firsthand. He also invited him to visit the PRCS National Headquarters.

The meeting concluded with Chairman Laghari presenting a memento to High Commissioner Mazlan, symbolizing the enduring partnership between PRCS and the Malaysian Embassy. Both dignitaries reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the bonds between Pakistan and Malaysia through humanitarian cooperation and mutual support.
