Islamabad, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, emphasized the importance of investing in children’s education, health, and safety. In his message on World Children’s Day, Zardari reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing children’s welfare, especially if his party wins the upcoming general elections.
According to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Zardari on World Children’s Day stated that children are Pakistan’s most valuable treasure and bright future. He highlighted the PPP’s historical efforts in child welfare and rights, citing the 1973 constitution, which guarantees children’s rights. He referenced the vaccination programs introduced by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) initiated by President Asif Ali Zardari, which includes components focused on children’s education and nutrition.
The PPP Chairman pointed out the achievements of the previous PPP government in Sindh, which made education free from primary to higher secondary level, bearing all related expenses. He also mentioned significant legislation for child protection enacted by the PPP in Sindh, including the Sindh Child Protection Authority Act, 2011, and The Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act, 2013.
Zardari also addressed the international community, calling for an immediate stop to the atrocities against children in Gaza, condemning the brutal treatment of Palestinian children as the worst form of barbarism. He pledged that the PPP would continue to strive for the provision of rights to education, health, and protection for Pakistani children, aligning with the 1973 Constitution and the United Nations Convention.
