Shan Masood and Shaheen Shah Afridi Appointed as Test and T20I Captains for Pakistan

Lahore, The PCB has announced Shan Masood as the new Test captain and Shaheen Shah Afridi as the T20I captain of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team. Shan, 34, has played 30 Tests and scored 1,597 runs, including four centuries and seven half-centuries. His captaincy term extends till the end of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25, with his first series against Australia in December.

According to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) informed that Shan’s appointment follows Babar Azam stepping down from his captaincy roles. Shaheen Shah Afridi, 23, will take the helm in T20Is, bringing his experience of 64 wickets in 52 T20Is, along with his successful leadership of Lahore Qalandars in HBL PSL, leading them to two consecutive tournament victories. Shaheen’s first series as captain will be in New Zealand in January. The PCB will announce the ODI captain at a later date.
