Islamabad, The Sports Gala 2023 at the Female Campus of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) commenced with a colorful opening ceremony featuring a flag march and various competitions. The event, inaugurated by Vice President Academics IIUI Prof. Dr. Abul Raheman, showcases the talents of female students from across 30 countries.
According to International Islamic University, the gala includes a wide range of sports and gaming events, engaging students from 11 faculties. Activities such as tug of war, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, basketball, cricket, football, indoor games, E-gaming, and athletic competitions are part of the event. Dr. Abul Raheman praised the participation of female students, emphasizing the importance of sports in higher education. He lauded the Directorate of Students’ Affairs for organizing the event and stressed the role of sports in building a healthy society and achieving academic excellence.
Dr. Summaya Chughtai highlighted the gala as a representation of cultural diversity and the international stature of IIUI. Dr. Sadia Saleem, the Students Advisor, thanked the university administration for their support and expressed commitment to continuing such constructive activities in line with the vision of Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi. The weeklong sports gala is set to be a platform for students to exhibit their skills and partake in a range of athletic and recreational activities.
