Mumbai, In a significant stride for cricket technology, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Nium, a leading platform for on-demand money movement, announced the winner of their Next In Hackathon. Team StumpEye emerged victorious with its revolutionary wireless stump camera system, designed to enhance batting and bowling analysis.

During a special event at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, prior to the Men’s Cricket World Cup semi-final, team StumpEye presented their winning prototype. Their wireless stump camera system is set to transform cricketing experience by providing a new depth of analysis, making technologies like the Decision Review System (DRS) accessible to lower levels of the sport. The system also features Coach Connect, bridging the gap between offsite coaches and players, and Umpire’s Mate, which records crucial game elements.

The hackathon panel comprised esteemed judges, including Anil Kumble, Next In Hackathon Ambassador; Finn Bradshaw, ICC Head of Digital; Ankit Gupta, NIUM Chief Architect; Jeremiah Glodoveza, NIUM Senior VP, Brand & Communications; and Rebecca Hopkins, STA Group CEO, along with venture fund and sports organization representatives.

Of the concepts submitted, 42% aimed to enhance fan experience, 35% focused on grassroots cricket, and 23% sought to improve cricket performance through analytics. The participants varied in background, from students to corporate professionals and startup entrepreneurs, with an average age of 26.
