University Paris-Saclay International Master’s Scholarships

Islamabad, April 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):The University Paris-Saclay, through the IDEX scholarships, aims to promote access to its master’s (nationally-certified degree) programs to international students, taught in its member establishments, and to make it easier for highly-qualified foreign students to attend its University especially those wishing to develop an academic project through research up to the doctoral level.

Level of Study: Master’s Degree

Field of Study: All Master’s programmes in all academic fields for which University Paris-Saclay is accredited, except for vocational training.

Grants: The scholarship amount is €10,000 per year. It is paid by University ParisSaclay for the duration of the academic year, and for a period of no less than 10 consecutive months per year (September to June). A maximum of €1,000 for travel and visa expenses is also awarded depending on the candidate’s country of origin.

These scholarships are awarded for 1 or 2 years depending on the admission level (M1 or M2) and subject to students completing the required number of credits to advance to the next year level.

Eligibility: Newly arrived international students, aged 30 and less during the course of the selection year.

Students of foreign nationality living on the French soil for less than a year, previously or currently enrolled in a training course or internship that does not lead to certification.

Students of foreign nationality living on the French soil for less than a year, taking language classes (type FFL).

Students who have lived in France in the past, within the framework of mobility programme during their studies (e.g. Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degrees, exchange programme…) that did not lead to certification.

Deadline: 10 May 2023 (annual).

NUMS Students Delegation Visits Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad

Rawalpindi, April 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):A student delegation of NUMS Civic Society (NCS), led by Ms. Saira Javed Lecturer, Department of Psychology(NDP) and Convener (NCS) visited the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) on its invitation for an interactive session on Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs) in Pakistan, on March 20, 2023. The members of NCS discussed and sought guidance from ISSI board of directors as to how they could seek collaboration of the national and international institutions to set up Dialysis Café in medical university and Persons with Disability Center. Student leaders Muhammad Mukarram Bin Afzal, and Salwa Nadeem also shared their field experience in mental health and social working. They highlighted the areas of implementation of policy and revisions in health policy. It was for the first time that students from a medical university approached ISSI to seek its cooperation.

During the visit Dr. Arshad, Director India Study Center (ISC), ISSI briefed the delegation about ISC functions. Dr. Neelam Nigar, Director Center for Strategic Perspective (CSP), ISSI appreciated NUMS Civic Society projects and its work on Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs). Mr. Abide Hussain, Deputy Director Library, ISSI on the occasion offered ISSI library services to NUMS delegation for research on sustainable developmental goals in South Asia. The delegation was briefed by Research Associate ISSI Ms. Umme e Farwa about its functions and various centers and explained that how they are working with internationally recognized institutes which could help NCS for forging collaborations with other stakeholders.

The convener NUMS NCS Ms, Saira Javed apprised ISSI officials of projects like “NUMS Kidney Kindred Kinship: Kidney Care”, (a project to provide psycho social support to kidney care patients, caregivers, paramedic and non- paramedical staff), “NUMS Red Ray: Blood Donation” ( a project which exclusively work on networking of blood donors nationwide) and “Daring not Deprived” (a project which aims to work for inclusivity of persons with different disabilities along with psycho socio support), were initiated to meet Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs). NUMS students are working on top two priority sets of SDGs of Pakistan which included good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, sustainable Cities and Communities and partnerships to achieve the goal.

During the Interactive session with students, internship opportunities at ISSI for students of psychology department were also discussed. They can help provide a better working environment by counselling the staff about time management, trauma, stress, and grief. During delegation’s visit to Balochistan Board of Investment and trading, Islamabad Ms. Saira Javed gave presentation on NUMS Civic Society projects to member of Board of Investment (BOI), Mr. Shumaila Zahid, Regional Coordinator and Chief Administers Office (BOI). During the meeting the importance of mental health and possibility of recruiting the mental health professionals/ psychologist in BOI was discussed. The visit of NUMS delegation was reported by official Twitter and other social media handles of ISSI along with photographs.

NUMS Green Youth Movement Club Organized Green Day to Promote Eco-Friendly Behaviour

Rawalpindi, April 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):NUMS Green Youth Movement (GYM) club organized a Green Day on March 21, 2023 at PWD campus for providing the students a platform to express their ideas to promote eco-friendly behaviour and to educate them on recycling, composting and learning the methods of turning food waste into nutrient –rich soil. Dean Social and Behavioural Sciences Prof. Dr Azam Chaudhary who is also Patron GYM Club inaugurated the Green Day and appreciated the efforts done by the Green Youth Movement and highlighted the scope of such activities at the university.

Climate Change is one of the most pressing environmental issues in the world. In recent years, Pakistan has experienced severe weather conditions, such as floods, droughts, and heat waves, which have caused significant damage to the environment and the economy. To tackle this problem, it is essential to encourage environment-friendly practices in university students, who are the future leaders of the country. The key objectives of the event were: to educate the student about the importance of recycling and to share ideas about plastic, paper and glass recycling, enlighten them about composting and to learn the methods of turning food waste into nutrient-rich soil.

Another objective was to create a sense of inclusivity in students through interacting at stalls including Cooked and Baked item stalls, Jewellery stalls (Eco-friendly), Eco-Friendly item stalls (cutlery, water bottles, re-used shirts, tote bags), Sketch and Painting stalls (Reused paper, Recycled Canvases) and other creative stalls to be managed by students from different societies. The enthusiastic Eco Learners of both NUMS and Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute (AFPGMI) set up their stalls including waste to wonder, shop green, Jewells by momii, door to green world cuisine, pasta la vista, candles of concord, farm to table, eco-oasis, eco-builders, best out of waste, it starts with you, sounds green to me, green pages, green tourism, Panipuri stall, let’s play clean and burger fest.

There were strict rules for stall registration and participation for example to provide reusable or compostable materials, to use compost bins, to encourage attendees to bring their containers and to recycle as much as possible to practice zero waste policy at NUMS. The stalls were open for sale. In the end, the judges including Patron GYM, Prof. Dr Azam Chaudhary and GYM oversight committee members including Ms Sara Shafiq and Dr Wasim Sajjad announced the winners of Green Day. The 1st Position went to “Candles of Concord”, stall 2nd to “Best out of Waste”, and 3rd Position was won by “Shop Green”. All winners and participants were awarded certificates as well by GYM Club NUMS.

The Green Youth Movement Team was also highly appreciated for their remarkable efforts in arranging this auspicious event at NUMS. The team included Huwaid Ahmed (Captain), Waleed Qaisar (Vice-Captain), Abdul Haseeb (Communication Lead), Momenah Tanveer (Thematic Lead-Solid and Liquid Waste Management) and Tayyaba Jahangir (Thematic Lead-Eco Tourism).

IUB is providing financial assistance to 20,000 students through various scholarship schemes, Spokesperson IUB

Bahawalpur, April 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):Spokesman of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has said that a few people are spreading misleading propaganda on social media contrary to the facts regarding the financial affairs of the university. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is a historical institution of higher learning where administrative and financial affairs are conducted in a disciplined manner under the rules and regulations. In the past four years, the university has taken many fruitful steps to increase its financial stability and income. However, around 800 million rupees have been due from the Higher Education Commission for the last two years. Despite the non-receipt of this pending amount, the university managed its financial affairs regularly. Among them are 6,000 male and female students with the Benazir Scholarship Scheme, who have been receiving scholarships for three years without interruption.

Islamia University Bahawalpur is the biggest partner institution of Benazir Scholarships, where such a large number of students are benefiting from these scholarships. Apart from this, Islamia University Bahawalpur is also providing scholarships worth 400 million rupees annually to thousands of male and female students under the Financial Crisis Scheme. In total, the university is providing financial assistance to 20,000 students through various scholarship schemes, including the Benazir scheme and other scholarships, financial crisis resources, and fee concessions. Despite the non-provision of funds by the Higher Education Commission, all these scholarship schemes have been maintained by the university administration so far, but now the pending funds from the Higher Education Commission have become indispensable to save the educational future of thousands of students.

The spokesperson added that media and public opinion should keep these concrete facts in front and not listen to any kind of irresponsible negative propaganda. Full legal action will be taken against the perpetrators of the false fabrication and anarchy campaign in this regard on social media and those elements who are damaging the reputation of university officials by making very false accusations will be held accountable.

The 1st IUB Ramadan Premier League 2023 got off to a grand start at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur

Bahawalpur, April 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):The 1st IUB Ramadan Premier League 2023 got off to a grand start at Islamia University Bahawalpur. Organized by Directorate of Sports and IUB Sports Society, Directorate of Students Affairs, more than 48 teams are participating in this night cricket league. The enthusiasm of the students was visible on the occasion of the inaugural match, especially the students of the hostels expressed their special thanks to the Vice-Chancellor Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mehboob for making special arrangements for the cricket matches. Adviser Sports Promotion Society, Professor Dr. Aftab Hussain Gilani, Chief Guest of the opening ceremony said that we are very grateful to the Vice Chancellor Engineer Prof. Dr. Athar Mehboob for providing the students of Jamia with a great opportunity for healthy activity and entertainment in this Ramadan.
