Indus Hospital and Health Network Celebrates March Nutrition Month 2023

Karachi, April 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):Indus Hospital and Health Network celebrated March Nutrition Month 2023 – an annual Nutrition Education and Information Campaign – with a flurry of engaging and educational activities at several campuses across the Network including, Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases (MIKD), Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH), Muzaffargarh, and The Indus Hospital, Korangi Campus.

The concept of treatment with food is an ancient one. The invaluable knowledge of how to use food to prevent and treat different diseases and keep the body nourished can only be acquired when one has complete nutritional awareness. The objective of celebrating March Nutrition Month is to increase public awareness of the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and exercise habits.

Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases, Multan

At Multan Institute of Kidney Diseases (MIKD), a celebratory event was organized by the Nutrition and Administration Department. Dr. Ali Imran Zaidi, Head of Campus; Dr. Tanveer ul Haq, Head of Faculty; Dr. Rashid Asghar, Head of Nephrology; and Imran Shahzad, Admin Manager, attended the concluding event. The Director of Kotham Institute also graced the occasion as a Chief Guest. Certificates of acknowledgment were distributed among the organizers, including Arija Nasir, Clinical Dietitian, and Nasir Abbas, Deputy Admin Manager. An on-campus awareness walk was also conducted.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH), Muzaffargarh

At Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital (RTEH), Muzaffargarh, several activities were organized by the hospital’s Nutrition and Food Services Department. Throughout the month of March, Maria Zainab, Nutritionist, RTEH, held educational sessions for patients and their families in the Outpatient departments, and surgical and medical allied wards. The sessions chronicled the importance of developing sound habits surrounding eating and physical activity.

On the last day of the campaign, the nutrition department organized an on-campus awareness camp for incoming patients. Dr. Shiraz Hasan Bhutta, Faculty Chair, RTEH, attended the event and spoke on how food plays an important role in attaining a healthy lifestyle. By just consuming proper and nutritious food, we can avoid several diseases.

Waqar Ahmed, Head of Operation, went on to explain that IHHN’s mission does not only stop at providing free-of-cost, quality care. It also includes educating the public about various health issues and enabling them to become better-informed decision-makers. RTEH’s nutritional awareness camp and walk were aimed to increase public awareness and empower people to take control of their health.

Tickets for Pak v NZ T20Is available from Sunday

Lahore, April 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): The tickets for the three T20 Internationals between Pakistan and New Zealand in Lahore will go on sale on Sunday (2 April) at 11am. The two teams play on 14, 15 and 17 April at the Gaddafi Stadium. The Pakistan Cricket Board has set affordable ticket prices, ranging from PKR250 to PKR3,000. The following are the enclosure categories and prices:

VVIP Enclosure (Wasim Akram) – PKR3,500

VIP Enclosures (Fazal Mahmood and Imran Khan) – PKR2,000

Premium (Raja’s and Saeed Anwar) – PKR1,000

First class (Abdul Qadir, AH Kardar, Javed Miandad and Sarfaraz Nawaz) – PKR500

General (Hanif Mohammad, Imtiaz Ahmed, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Majid Khan, Nazar, Quaid, Saeed Ahmed and Zaheer Abbas) – PKR 250 in the first phase, which commences tomorrow, the tickets will be available online at pcb.bookme.pk and fans can buy them using original ID cards. The fans will be required to bring their original ID or B-Forms (for those under the age of 18) to gain entry in the stadium.

The physical tickets will be available in the second phase from 6 April. The details regarding sale points will be announced in due course. The ticket details for the matches in Rawalpindi and Karachi will be announced in due course.

Commemorating 23 March 2023 – Pakistan Day at UET Mardan

Mardan, April 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):The University of Engineering and Technology Mardan celebrated Pakistan Day, 23 March. The ceremony was attended by several esteemed individuals, including Prof. Dr. Sadiq Ullah, the Vice Chancellor of UET Mardan, Prof. Dr. Imran Khan, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computing, Dr. Alam, the Registrar, Prof. Dr. Usman, the Chairman of the Computer Science Department, and Prof. Dr. Ibrar, the Chairman of the Computer Software Engineering Department.

Additionally, the faculty, administrative staff, and students of UET Mardan also participated in the event. The ceremony featured the hoisting of the Pakistan flag, commemorating the country’s independence. The event was a celebration of Pakistan’s rich history and served as a reminder of the significance of national unity and patriotism.

World Water Day 2023 Celebrated at The Department of Environmental Sciences, AWKUM

Mardan, April 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):Department of Environmental Sciences, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan with the financial support from WaterAid Pakistan organized one-day seminar after concluding a week-long awareness campaign in Schools and Colleges in District Mardan to commemorate and contribute the global movement for accelerating change to achieve SDG 6 – clean water and sanitation for all. This was a part of the series of events organized by WaterAid Pakistan across the country to celebrate and contribute toward the global observance to raise awareness about the importance of fresh water and issues around poor WASH services. Participants from academia, civil society organizations, NGOs, water and sanitation service providers, practitioners and government line department officials attended the event.

Dr. Dilawar Farhan Shams, Chairman Department of the Environmental Sciences, AWKUM welcomed the participants and discuss the aims and objectives of the seminar. It was revealed that globally over 3.6 billion people, almost half of the world population, do not have access to safely managed sanitation at their home. Similarly, in Pakistan 4.5 million population don’t have access to drinking water along with 141 million to safe drinking water and 70 million people have limited access to sanitation facilities. Dr. Shams Ali Baig delivered a keynote talk on the theme of accelerating change to achieve the SDG targets. He highlighted the reason of the off track in achieving SDG 6 and linked with the climate change induced disasters.

The importance of adequate WASH services in adhering good hygiene practices to improve the overall quality of life were briefly discussed by the panellists including, Dr. Wali Ullah Khan, Department of Chemistry, Dr. Dilawar Farhan Shams, Department of Environmental Sciences, and Mr. Rahat Ullah, Customer Service Manager WSSCM Mardan in the panel discussion. At the end, Dr. Muhammad Idris, Director Administration, AWKUM in his closing remarks reiterated the importance of clean drinking water and thanked WaterAid Pakistan for the financial support and choosing AWKUM for this event. He also distributed certificates of appreciation and shield among the participants and organizer. The event ended with a walk within the campus to raise awareness on the World Water Day.
