GCU, Punjab police sign MOU for internship opportunities to students 

Lahore, January 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):A memorandum of understanding was signed here on Tuesday between the Government College University Lahore and Punjab Police’s Research and Development Branch for sharing qualified Human Resources, facilitating research projects and providing internship opportunities to students. Inspector General of Police, Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan and Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi signed the accord at a graceful ceremony at the Central Police Office.

Speaking on the occasion, IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan announced that as many as 50 students of GCU would be provided internship under the Punjab Police Internship Program. He said that the 10-week internship program would involve students in a variety of branches, including research and operations. He said the Punjab Police is working with a diverse group of educational institutions to eradicate intolerance in the society and promote community policing.

The IG Punjab proudly said GCU is my alma mater; more than 80 percent officers in Punjab police are Ravians. He said the culture of research in police is being promoted Punjab Police in collaboration with the reputed educational institutions. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi appreciated the sacrifices and services of Punjab Police, saying that children of police martyrs would be granted admissions in GCU on a priority basis.

He said expressed gratitude to IGP for providing internship to his students, saying these internships would provide practical experience to GCU students in the day-to-day operations of a law enforcement agencies. He went on to say that we will hold seminars at GCU to raise awareness about the role of police in our society. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Additional IG Training, DIG Research and Development and AIG Training and R and D.

Dressing Etiquettes for Business Professionals – Session by Hamid Saeed 

Karachi, January 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Under the supervision of Ms. Tehseen Azhar- Director Alumni Relations and Senior Lecturer MS, a guest speaker session on ‘Dressing Etiquettes for Business Professionals’ was conducted by Mr. Hamid Saeed – International Image Consultant. The session was conducted at DSU’s Executive Lecture Theatre (ELT) on Friday 7th January 2022 for the students of the Professional Development course (BBA 7 and 8).

Hamid Saeed is an Image and Corporate Wardrobe Consultant from New York. Over the past two decades, Hamid Saeed has dressed and advised more than 50,000 men and women, including the Governor of New York and hundreds of executives from USA Fortune 500 companies. Hamid Saeed has also conducted thousands of training sessions on ‘Corporate Dressing Etiquettes’ for Big 4 Consulting Companies, Financial Institutions and Educational Institutions.

Hamid Saeed has also conducted seminars on ‘Dressing Etiquettes for Professionals’ for State Bank of Pakistan, LUMS, NUST, GIKI, IOBM and HEC and Corporate Pakistan. Hamid Saeed believes clothing is a marketing tool. He is passionate about helping graduate students in building a strong ‘Visual Resume’ to land the job of their dreams.

At the end of this highly interactive session, Pro-VC – Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Minhas addressed the audience and enlightened them with valuable tips from his wealth of experience. Pro-VC then presented a memento to Mr. Hamid Saeed as a token of thanks on behalf of DSU.

Trip to Quetta and Ziarat for DSU Fraternity 

Karachi, January 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Alumni Relations Office collaborated with its Corporate Partner – Alpha Travel Pakistan, to arrange a four-day New Year Snowfall trip to Quetta and Ziarat Valley for the DSU Fraternity. The trip took place on 30th December 2021 – 02nd January 2022 and proved to be a great success based on the post-trip feedback from the participants.

The trip to the Quetta and Ziarat Valley provided a refreshing break from work and study for many and aided in uniting and strengthening the DSU network. 40 DSU participants, consisting of DSU Alumni, Students and Faculty, went on this adventurous trip. Where they enjoyed beautiful views of Quetta, experienced the snowfall in Quetta, had an amazing time at Zero Point, witnessed mesmerizing views at Hanna Lake, enjoyed Bonfire at Ziarat Valley, visited Quaid-e-Azam Residency, enjoyed the Night Life in Quetta City, Explored Quetta Bazar, and much more.

From Karachi to Quetta, Quetta to Ziarat Valley, Ziarat Valley to Zero Point and from Quetta to back to Karachi. The participants appreciated and cherished the efforts of DSU’s Alumni Relations Department and its corporate partner Alpha Travel Pakistan for arranging a safe and secure environment where they were able to enjoy and connect with their fellow DSU fraternity members.

Ambassador of Oman calls on IIUI President

Islamabad, January 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sheikh Mohammed bin Omar bin Ahmed Al Marhoon, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman called on Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University (IIU). In the meeting matters pertaining to educational cooperation and mutual interest were discussed. During the meeting President IIUI said that the university is ready for educational cooperation and reiterated his resolve that IIUI would keep disseminating messages of peace and promotion of knowledge.

He said that IIUI is keen to expand its educational ties with all institutions of the World, especially with the varsities of Islamic World. He also told the Ambassador regarding recent MoUs of IIUI, while, he also briefed him about the faculties and departments of the University. Ambassador appreciated role of IIUI in promotion of education and said that International Islamic University Islamabad is one of the prestigious institutions of Muslim world on the occasion, both officials agreed to take further steps for expanding mutual cooperation.

Fire Fighting Training Session at TUF 

Faisalabad, January 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Management of The University of Faisalabad regularly arranges special training sessions for its faculty members, students and staff on how to deal with emergencies like a terrorist attack, fir incident, or some other natural calamity. A “Fire prevention/fighting training” session was held in collaboration with Rescue 1122 in Health Sciences Wing on January 5, 2022. Mr Muzammil Hussain, Senior Instructor from Rescue 1122 and Mr Mujahid Ali, Fire Fighter Officer, TUF conducted the session.

In his lecture, Mr Muzammil gave general awareness about fire prevention/fighting techniques and use of equipment. Orientation on various types of fire extinguishers and equipment was also given by him. Later, mock drill/practical exercises of firefighting were performed by the participants. Faculty members, staff and security personnel of the University actively participated in all the exercises and thanked the University Management particularly the Rescue 1122 for conducting such a useful training.
