While addressing the audience on this auspicious occasion, the vice chancellor prof. Dr. Talat Naseer pasha (S.I) said i am feeling immense pleasure to preside over this 8th Convocation of university of education because convocation is always termed as the historical day in students’ life.

He said the UE is fully cognizant of its role and expectations of the society. That is why it envisions preparing dynamic leaders and practitioners in teaching, research and management having content excellence, pedagogical competence, commitment and integrity at school, college and university levels across disciplines and presently paying equal attention to various disciplines for which the degrees have been offered because we aim to make it a catalyst of quality assurance in all academic tiers ensuring sustainable development at the national and regional levels.

our march towards the goal started well and recently we have activated two of our Divisions namely ‘Division of Arts and Social Sciences’, and ‘Division of Management and Administrative Science’, and established Department of ‘Educational Psychology’, Department of ‘Curriculum and Instruction’, Department of Sports Sciences and Physical Education’, Seven Computer Labs., Thirty-Two Science Labs., Two Special Education Labs., and Three Botanical Gardens by keeping in view Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Clean and Green Pakistan’.

We have also established ‘Center for Linguistics, Translation Studies and Professional Development’ in the light of the growing professional needs under CPEC initiatives. At present total number of UE students is 26866 with 51.28% female and 48.72% male students but by adding the students of our affiliated colleges the total number of UE students is 40963. Recently by approval of HEC Islamabad, UE has increased access of quality higher education at its campuses and from fall 2021 we will offer 11 PhD, 29 MPhil/MS new degree programs, he added.

Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said, the University of Education with the support of US Consulate General office Lahore has established ‘Lincoln Corner’ at its Vehari Campus, ‘English Works’ at Faisalabad Campus, ‘English Access’, at D G Khan Campus and with the collaboration of Punjab Information Technology Board has launched ‘National Freelance Training Program’ at Township Lahore and Multan Campuses.

These programs will enable to build professional and entrepreneurial skills in our students that equip them to compete in the 21st century job market. This year UE has disbursed scholarships worth of Rs: 150 million to its needy and merited students. The major share of these scholarships was from Prime Minister’s Ehsaas Program through HEC which enabled the talented needy students to fulfil their dreams.

The Vice Chancellor said that Directorate of Student Affairs and Students’ Counselling Center are striving hard to enable UE graduates to participate in all academic and co academic activities. For this, I highly appreciate the sincere and concerted efforts of the faculty in making these goals achievable. It is because of this academic commitment that University of Education has 465 faculty members out of which 52% are PhDs.

UE faculty is trying hard to realize UE vision and mission. It’s worth mentioning here that the faculty of University of Education also renders its expertise and professional services to Government and non-government organizations such HEC, PHEC, and HED, etc., for academic, co-academic and faculty development programs. Dr. Pasha said during Pandemic COVID-19 a handsome number of our teachers were engaged in different Webinars, Online lectures, Conferences, and faculty development programs arranged by UE or other organizations along with their regular academic and research work.

It’s satisfying that UE faculty published 720 research articles from July 2020 to March 2021 which will contribute to national development by also enhancing UE international ranking. The Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Arshad, Treasurer Qaisar Iqbal, directors, principals, students, parents, media personnel, intellectual personalities and civil society representatives attended the ceremony.

Habib Graduates Honoured in Unique Ceremony

Karachi, November 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):Habib University held a combined Degree Distribution Ceremony for the Classes of 2020 and 2021 on campus grounds to celebrate the success of the two batches who despite the challenges of Covid-19 pandemic, did not waver from their academic pursuits. With strict Covid SOPs in place, this was the first large in-person gathering held at the campus after two years.

Conducting this ceremony was a natural extension of Habib University’s proactive approach during the pandemic. Habib University led the way, quickly and seamlessly shifting to online teaching and learning platforms. The entire Habib community had responded positively, especially the students, who faced the challenges with resilience and remained focused on their coursework. As a result, both batches timely graduated with virtual convocation ceremonies held in 2020 and 2021.

Every year, the convocation is a landmark celebratory event for the entire Habib community, as it climaxes the end of the students’ four-year academic journey. The Degree Distribution Ceremony saw students excitedly donning robes the second time to replenish getting their degrees in the warm presence of their friends and parents. Faculty members were also present to see their wards receive their degrees and wish them well in their future endeavors.

The ceremony was presided over by the President of Habib University, Mr. Wasif A. Rizvi, who advised the graduates to reflect on their self-cultivation at the University, “always reflect on what you were invited to cultivate within yourselves at Habib. Cure your cynicism with passion and khuloos,” he said.

On a note of encouragement, he advised the Class of 2020 and 2021 to challenge ugliness in life with beauty, destruction with grace, laziness and indifference with rigor and incompetence with excellence. He also advised them to tackle exploitation and greediness with goodness, generosity and service.

Dr. Aamir Hasan, Interim Vice President Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty, spoke about the value of the ceremony in the company of the students’ mentors and loved ones, “Our gathering this evening [is] so very special. Not only does it provide you the opportunity to receive your degree in the presence of your faculty, who have facilitated you to reach to this point, it is also a time to share your success with your parents.” With the pandemic in recession, Habib University is hopeful of hosting an in-person Convocation in 2022.
