Pakpattan: Pakpattan has reported a voter registration rate that exceeds the national average, with 56% of its estimated 2025 population registered to vote, compared to the national ratio of 54%. This statistic, based on district-wise electoral roll statistics, highlights a notable achievement for the district within Punjab.
According to the Free and Fair Election Network, these figures come from data released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on December 30, 2025, and are cross-referenced against population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census. The population estimate for 2025 applies a 2.67% annual growth rate to Pakpattan's base population, resulting in an estimated population of 2,251,765. The district boasts 1.3 million registered voters, with a gender breakdown of 679,598 males (53.6%) and 588,081 females (46.4%).
Pakpattan ranks 38th out of 136 districts nationally by population size and holds two seats in the National Assembly. In terms of voter registration, it ranks 40th nationally and 24th within Punjab. The district's higher registration rate is partly due to census rules that recorded household members at their current address if they had been absent for more than six months. This has resulted in a smaller population denominator relative to the registered voter roll.
Labour migration has contributed to this trend, as many residents move to urban centers like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad for work, yet remain registered to vote in Pakpattan. Despite the district's strong overall voter registration rate, the gender gap remains at 7.2%, with female voters making up 46.4% of the electorate. Efforts to achieve equitable female registration continue to be a focus for local authorities.
