Lahore, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in Lahore hosted a seminar on “Next Generation Sequencing” at the Pasha Academic Block Amphitheatre. The event, organized by the Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology (IBBT), featured Dr. Muhammad Tariq from the National Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering in Faisalabad as the guest speaker.
According to University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Dr. Tariq shared insights into genomics and genetics, captivating UVAS students with the potential and applications of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). NGS is noted for its significant role in diagnosing and predicting genetic diseases.
The seminar was well attended by numerous faculty members along with undergraduate and postgraduate students from various departments. Prof. Dr. Waseem Shehzad, the Director of IBBT, expressed gratitude to the participants and suggested the institution of monthly lectures to further enhance student knowledge and engagement in biotechnology fields. The event concluded with Dr. Shehzad presenting a commemorative shield to Dr. Tariq.
