Turbat, The University of Turbat’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, inaugurated the second part of the tree plantation drive for Phase II of the University of Turbat Development Project. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability and is a part of the PM Green Program.
According to University of Turbat, the Vice-Chancellor planted an English Rose in the university’s Botanical Garden to symbolize the start of this new phase. The tree plantation drive, supervised by the Department of Water and Plantation, is funded through the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as part of the PM Green Program.
During the event, VC Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad emphasized the importance of the initiative in maintaining a clean, green, and pollution-free campus. He expressed gratitude towards the HEC for its continuous support and highlighted the university’s dedication to contributing to national efforts in addressing climate change challenges.
Mr. Shah Hussain, In-charge of the Water and Plantation Department, briefed the Vice Chancellor on the progress of the project, noting that over 3000 plants and trees have already been planted at the university. The current phase aims to introduce approximately 700 diverse plant and tree species across the campus.
The Vice-Chancellor’s visit to the lemon garden, botanical garden, and mixed fruit garden showcased the university’s ongoing efforts to cultivate green spaces and foster an environmentally conscious campus culture.
