Haripur, The University of Haripur successfully hosted its first two-day National Agritech Expo, drawing students, schools, and colleges from across Pakistan to showcase a blend of talent, culture, and innovation in agriculture.
According to The University of Haripur, the Expo’s second day was a vibrant mix of cultural performances and academic competition. The Grandeur Genesis School System of Haripur presented captivating cultural performances, while the Pasban Public School contributed a Gilgit cultural dance and a cultural walk, showcasing Pakistan’s diverse heritage. The event also featured enchanting Rabab and Tabla displays, and a soulful rendition of a Pashto song, reflecting the rich musical traditions of the region.
A key highlight of the Expo was the prestigious Agritech Idea Competition. This contest saw 28 participants present their innovative concepts to an esteemed panel of judges, including Dr. Muhammad Israr from the Pakistan Science Foundation, Kasid Ahmed of Mashmoom Industries Hatar, and Dr. Bilal Mirza of Pak-Austria University. Three outstanding ideas were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh each, and all participants received Certificates of Participation, underlining the event’s commitment to fostering innovation in agriculture.
The Expo attracted a wide audience, emphasizing the significance of agricultural innovation. ORIC Director Dr. Mohammad Jahangir and University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shafiq-ur-Rehman stressed the importance of such initiatives in advancing Pakistan’s agricultural sector. The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Health Service Academy Islamabad, and the Chief Guest, Secretary of Agriculture KP, who lauded the efforts of the University of Haripur in organizing the event and called for more such expos nationwide.
In his closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Abid Farid thanked all participants, guests, and sponsors, including Akora Seed, Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited, Qarshi, and Star Society UOH, for their contributions to the successful conclusion of the Expo. The University of Haripur reaffirmed its commitment to promoting platforms that foster the exchange of innovative ideas in agriculture.
