Lahore, The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore hosted the inauguration of the 5th IT Exhibition and Competition (ITEC) at its Main Auditorium Complex, marking the commencement of a two-day event dedicated to showcasing the talents and innovations of students in information technology. The event, organized by UET Lahore’s Computer Science Department in collaboration with other campuses, including UET New Campus KSK, UET Narowal, Rachna College of Engineering and Technology Gujranwala, and UET Faisalabad, drew participants from across the university and beyond.
According to University of Engineering and Technology, the ceremony was inaugurated by UET Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Hayat, alongside notable industry figures such as Devsinc CEO Mr. Usman Asif and Saad Hussain from Accenture IT Consulting in Vienna, Austria. The event was attended by a host of UET’s academic leadership, including Prof. Dr. Zubair Abu Bakr, Prof. Dr. Shahid Rafiq, and Prof. Dr. Usman Ghani, as well as faculty members, department chairs, and a large number of students.
ITEC featured a variety of competitions and activities ranging from computing and coding challenges to gaming and quizzes, alongside creative events like poster design. It also provided a platform for final-year undergraduates to present their capstone projects and for MS/PhD candidates to display their research through posters. This year’s exhibition attracted participation from students representing over 30 universities, highlighting ITEC’s role as a pivotal event in fostering innovation and collaboration among future IT professionals.
The opening ceremony concluded with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nasir Hayat acknowledging the contributions of the guests and participants with the presentation of recognition shields, underscoring the importance of such events in bridging the gap between academia and industry within the realm of IT and engineering.
