UET Lahore Concludes Drama and Mime Festival with Focus on Social Issues

LAHORE: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore recently hosted the concluding day of the “Voices of Inclusion – Lahore Drama and Mime Festival 2026,” a two-day event that served as a platform for students to explore and express social awareness through creative performances. The festival ended with a closing ceremony that highlighted the importance of artistic expression in addressing societal challenges.

According to University of Engineering and Technology, the second day of the festival showcased performances from drama and mime societies representing various universities. The performances tackled significant social issues such as inequality, class disparity, mental stress, human emotions, hope, and resilience. The audience was engaged by the portrayals, which prompted reflection on these critical matters.

The closing ceremony featured Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Vice Chancellor of UET Lahore, as the Chief Guest. He praised the student performances and emphasized the role of co-curricular activities in nurturing creativity, tolerance, and social responsibility. Fahad Shahbaz, the Focal Person for Punjab in the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, attended as a guest of honour, applauding the festival’s organization and the platform it provided for student expression.

The ceremony included the distribution of cash prizes and awards to outstanding performers and winning teams, acknowledging their excellence and promoting further participation in creative endeavors. Attendees of the event included the Pro Vice Chancellor, Deans, faculty members, distinguished guests, and a large audience of students. The festival, lauded for its enthusiastic reception, concluded with a message underscoring the significance of youth engagement in fostering a progressive and inclusive society.
