Tariq Madani Calls for Transparent Elections to Address Pakistan’s Crises

Karachi, Tariq Mahmood Madani, the head of the Pakistan Peace Council, has stressed the urgent need for transparent elections to navigate Pakistan out of its current crises. In a meeting with a delegation from Landhi Behins Colony, led by Maulana Abdul Razzaq Hazarvi, Madani criticized the political elite’s approach to the country’s constitution and laws, describing them as being treated as mere tools rather than guiding principles.

According to Pakistan Amn Council, Madani voiced his concerns during the meeting at the Central Peace Secretariat, Sher Shah. He lamented that despite the country’s worsening economic situation, the political elite seemed unwilling to learn from past mistakes, thus deepening the nation’s problems. Madani emphasized that adherence to the rule of law could offer solutions to these issues. However, he noted that the current treatment of the constitution and legal framework by those in power is alarming. Furthermore, Madani expressed strong disapproval of the stance of Muslim rulers, particularly the government of Pakistan, regarding Israel’s actions in Gaza. He called for the Muslim Ummah’s true representation in addressing the Palestine issue, highlighting the need for a unified and principled stance among Muslim leaders.
