Turbat, August 02, 2021 (PPI-OT):In continuation to this office’s notification No.Notfi/Reg/6118-16/UoT dated 14th July 2021, the Competent Authority of UoT has decided to re-start the academic activities from 9th August 2021 instead of 2nd August 2021, due to fresh surge in the 4th wave of Corona Virus cases in Kech district and keeping in view the guidelines issued by the District Administration Kech.

The classes are now scheduled to be started from Monday, 9th August 2021, subject to official announcement from the Government of Pakistan/District Administration Kech, regarding general lock down.

Turbat, July 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):A team from Monitoring and Evaluation (M and E) Division of Higher Education Commission (HEC) visited University of Turbat on 29th and 30th June 2021. The team was headed by Director General M and E Syed Naveed Hussain Shah. Director General Engineering and Works of University of Balochistan Engineer Farooq Badini and Assistant Director M and E Division of HEC Muhammad Idrees were also accompanied him.

During meeting with the officials of UoT’s project section, UoT’s Project Director Manzoor Baloch briefed the team about the development works of the phase-II of Turbat University project. Director Finance Shahbeek Syed, Director EA Consulting Monis Suri and Architecture Muhammad Riaz were also present on the occasion. The HEC’s team also called upon Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad at his chamber. UoT’s PD Manzoor Baloch and PSO to VC Chakar Hyder were also present on the occasion.

Turbat, July 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):Deputy Chairman Planning Commission of Pakistan Dr. Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan along with Additional Chief Secretary of Balochistan Hafiz Abdul Basit visited University of Turbat (UoT) on 1st July 2021. The Vice Chancellor of University of Turbat Prof. Dr. Jan Mohammad and Commissioner Makran Division Shah Irfan Gharshin along with other officers gave him a warm welcome on his arrival at UoT.

Dean faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Abdul Saboor, Registrar Ghulam Farooq, Deputy Commissioner Ketch Hussain Jan Baloch and officials of National Highways Authority were also present on the occasion. Deputy Chairman Planning Commission was briefed by the heads of different departments regarding on-going and new development projects of South Balochistan during a meeting held at video conference room of UoT.

During meeting, the UoT’s project Director Manzoor Ahmed Baloch highlighted the salient features of the phase-I and phase-II of the Turbat university project. The phase-II of University of Turbat project had been inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan during his visit to UoT on 13th November 2020.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan thanked the university administration and said that the project of Turbat University was very important and he would try to provide more funds to the University for the Development Works of Phase-II.

He said that there was a need to provide more facilities and attractive incentives to the teachers in the far flung areas of Balochistan. Deputy Chairman said “the university needs digital connectivity and I would seek support from the Universal Service Fund (USF).”

He said that the university could not be run on student’s fees only; therefore, the provincial and federal governments should provide adequate funding and scholarships to the university so that the underprivileged students could continue their studies without any financial burden on their families.

Turbat, July 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):A team from Monitoring and Evaluation (M and E) Division of Higher Education Commission (HEC) visited University of Turbat’s Gwadar Campus on 1st July, 2021 and called upon Campus Director Ijaz Ahmed at his office. The team was headed by Director General M and E Division of HEC Syed Naveed Hussain Shah.

Director General Engineering and Works of University of Balochistan Engineer Farooq Badini and Assistant Director M and E Division of HEC Muhammad Idrees were also accompanied him. Besides infrastructural, financial and academic progress of the campus during last four years, the Campus Director also apprised the team about the future plan of the campus on the occasion.

In-charge Commerce Department Mujahid Hussain, faculty member Saghir Nasim, Assistant Director Admin and HR Abdul Majid, Assistant Director Finance Rehmatullah and Abdi Khan were also present on the occasion. On behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, the campus Director presented the shields to the visitors. The HEC’s team also visited the proposed site for University of Gwadar.

Turbat, June 28, 2021 (PPI-OT): Government of Balochistan (GOB) has awarded research grant to Higher Education Intuitions (HEIs) in Balochistan including University of Turbat (UoT) to support these institutions to undertake research focused on prevailing scientific and socioeconomic issues. Utilizing the research grant awarded by GOB, the UOT has established a research fund, namely University of Turbat Research Fund (UOTRF) which aimed at supporting research projects that make contributions to economic prosperity, provincial and local wellbeing and to facilitate the academic and industrial linkages.

The faculty members of UoT and its sub campuses submitted 33 research projects that were evaluated by the external experts including Dr. Jamil Ahmed, Assistant Professor (Department of Management Sciences, University of Balochistan), Dr. Muhammad Aslam Buzdar (Associate Professor, Director ORIC, LUWAMS), Dr. Liaquat Channa (Associate Professor, Department of English, BUITEMS), Dr. Shahjehan Shabbir (Associate Professor, Department of Biotechnology, BUITEMS) and Dr. Zahid Rauf (Associate Professor, Deans Graduate Studies, BUITEMS) on 7th and 8th June 2021 at UoT. The Worthy Vice Chancellor of UOT (Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad) chaired the session, whereas Dr. Ghulam Jan (Director ORIC, UOT) moderated the overall session.
