University of Turbat organizes World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day

Turbat, November 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):The World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day was organized at the University of Turbat (UoT) on 26th November 2021. The UoT’s Department of Natural and Basic Science hosted the event. The UoT’s vice-chancellor, prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad graced the occasion as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, the vice-chancellor said that besides promoting quality education and research activities, the University of Turbat was also committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities for the betterment of society in general and its students in particular. He lauded the efforts of the students and faculty members of the Natural and Basic Science Department for organizing World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Day at the University of Turbat.

Highlighting the importance and purpose of the event, Chairperson Department of Natural and Basic Science, Dr. Rooh Ullah said that “World Antimicrobial Awareness Week is celebrated from 18-24 November every year and the aim of organizing this week at global level was to create awareness regarding antimicrobial and to encourage the best practices among the general public, health workers and policymakers in order to avoid the further emergence and spread of drug-resistant infections.

He emphasized improving understanding of antimicrobial resistance through effective communication, education, and training workshops at the mass level. A poster-making competition on the theme of the week was also held on this occasion. The Yasir’s group from the BS 6th semester secured the first position while Mahnaz Kareem’s group from BS 8th semester and Jawairia Faqeer’s group from BS 4th semester shared the second position in the competition. The third position was secured by the Liga’s group from BS 4th semester. Congratulating the position holders, the vice-chancellor, and faculty members exalted the creativity of students participating in the competition. The event was attended by the faculty members and students of the university.

Management Sciences holds its Board of Study meeting t

Prof. Dr. Abdul Raziq, Registrar University of Loralai, an expert member chaired the meeting. Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Economics and Business Administration Dr. Waseem Barket, faculty members, Dr. Adeel Ahmed, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, and Dr. Idress Waris attended the meeting. Besides discussing and resolving various academic matters, the esteemed forum also unanimously approved the MBA and Ph.D. programs and their curriculum and contents.

Two faculty members of University of Turbat to serve as Visiting Scientist in Turkey

Turbat, November 29, 2021 (PPI-OT):The two faculty members from the University of Turbat (UoT) have been selected to serve as Visiting scientists at the universities and institutes of Turkey in order to carry out academic and R and D activities during the academic period 2022-23.

Dr. Naeemullah, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, and Dr. Rooh Ullah, Assistant Professor, Department of Natural and Basic Science, UoT will work on two separate joint projects with Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tuzen of Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University, Turkey as a host scientist in Turkey. The joint projects will be sponsored by the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council (TUBITAK) under “2221-Visiting Scientists Fellowship Program 2021”.

The research scholars/scientists of both universities will work on two different joint projects titled “Development of Smart Miniaturized extraction Methods as a Green Alternative tool for the Removal of Different Types of Pollutants from Different environmental Samples” and “Development of Biosensor Based on Metal Chitosan Nanocomposite for Hazardous Materials Detection and as a Green Alternative Approach for the Removal of Different Types of Pollutants”.

The main objective of these projects is to develop and use smart miniaturized green extraction / separation methods as an alternative to the classical ones for the removal of different types of toxic pollutants from different environmental samples and to develop chitosan nanocomposite based biosensor detection materials for these toxic pollutants.

Congratulating Dr. Naeem Ullah and Dr. Rooh Ullah for being selected as Visiting Scientist in Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University, Turkey, the UoT’s vice-chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad said that these joint projects would help in promoting scientific and technological collaboration between Turkey and Pakistan in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technological Sciences, Medical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. The vice-chancellor anticipated that besides bringing about a milestone in the field of separation science and biosensor detection materials, such joint projects would open new vistas of collaboration between the University of Turbat and universities in Turkey.

University of Turbat holds its 12th Academic Council’s meeting 

Turbat, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):The vice-chancellor, University of Turbat (UoT), Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad has said, the University of Turbat has achieved a distinguished position in a short span of time in the field of higher education in the country because of its quality education, good governance, and financial discipline. He lauded the Deans, HoDs, and academic and admin staff for their devotion towards uplifting the university in a short span of time.

He expressed these views while presiding over the University’s 12th meeting of the Academic Council held on 18th November 2021 at the video conference room of the university. The house expressed its satisfaction over the leadership of the vice-chancellor and steps taken by the University for Academic Progress and administrative operations of the institute.

The meeting started with the recitation of the Holy Quran. The vice-chancellor welcomed the participants and announced to start the proceedings of the meeting. Then registrar presented agenda items to the house for discussion and the decisions accordingly. Besides approving the minutes of the last Academic Council’s meeting, the august body also confirmed the minutes of the meetings of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) as well as recommendations of the Board of Studies (Boss) of different departments which were held earlier.

The Academic Council also recommended starting one or two new science programs in the Natural and Basic Science Department. The house also discussed and resolved the matters related to the establishment of the Directorate of Academics, Revised Graduate Rules 2021, launching MBA and Ph.D. programs in the Management Science Department, reconstitution of Board of Studies of different departments, and devising courses for two years Associate Degree Programs to be offered in affiliated colleges of the university.

The 12th meeting of ASRB of University of Turbat held 

Turbat, November 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):The 12th meeting of the Advanced Studies and Research Board (ASRB) of the University of Turbat (UoT) was held on 28th September 2021 at the meeting room of UoT. The UoT’s Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad chaired the meeting.

While welcoming the participants of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad said that “promoting quality research culture in the university is our top priority. With the consultation and coordination of the dean committee and heads of other sections, we have initiated various steps to further enhance research activities in the university and incline the faculty members and research scholars towards conducting research projects.”

Besides, approving the minutes of the last meeting of the ASRB, the board also discussed and resolved the enrollment, thesis, and thesis evaluation report of the MS/M.Phil. Scholars of Chemistry, Balochi, and Management Sciences Department. The august body also discussed and resolved various agenda items including revised graduate rules, ASRB calendar, and scope of the directorate of Academics and its functions.
