Student’s Advisor Office commemorates Youm-e-Iqbal at Female Campus 

Islamabad, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):To commemorate Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s legacy on 9th of November every year, Iqbal Day is celebrated, Allama Iqbal, philosopher and the “Poet of the East” is deeply concerned with youth. To remind his message, Directorate of Students’ Affairs, Female Campus, International Islamic University (IIU) organized a competition of Iqbal’s’ poetry in connection with You- e-Iqbal.

The activity, in supervision of Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Students’ Advisor, Female campus, was in the Auditorium Fatima-tuz- Zahra Block of Female Campus. The event was moderated by Ms. Naila Rafique Deputy Student’s Advisor.

Speaking on the occasion as a Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Najeba Arif, Dean Faculty of Languages and Literature, FLL, IIUI discussed Iqbal’s message of Khudi (The Self). She said that post-modern era is based on individualism that discourages collectivism which consequently destroys the notion of nation and Ummah. She emphasized on the need of true understanding of ‘Khudi’ to build a true nation.

The competitions were categorized as ‘Kalam-e-Iqbal Maa Trannum’, ‘Kalam-e-Iqbal Tehtul Lafz’ and Bait Bazi. The responsibility of judgment was performed by Dr. Taimia Sabiha, Dr. Bi Ameena and Dr Sheraz Fazal Dad.

The Competition of Taranum was won by Rafia Abid of Psychology Department, Samra Rehman of Shariah and Law stood 2nd and Syeda Maryam Naqvi Faculty of Shariah and Law got 3rd position. In the competition of Tehtullafz, Sundus Moin of Psychology Department got first position, Ramsha Ali Faculty of Shariah and law got 2nd and Umaima Zainab, Faculty of Ussuludin got 3rd position. Bait Bazi competition was won by Team B comprising Iffat Sardar (BS Psychology) Rafia Abid (BS psychology) and Zarwasha (Faculty of Shariah and Law).

Dr. Sumayya Chughtai while addressing to the audience said that Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a great poet, philosopher, scholar, and politician. She said that Dr. Iqbal gave message of Muslim unity, self-confidence, knowledge and continuous progress. The students’ advisor opined that Allama Iqbal used poetry as a medium to convey the message of Quran.

She said we praise Allama Iqbal for his acknowledge and services as he also gave the concept of separate homeland for the Muslim of subcontinents. The Covid-19 SOPs were followed in the true letter and spirit by the students and faculty members during this activity.
