Sindh Madressatul Islam University Set to Host 2nd Global Research Congress in Karachi

Karachi, Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) has finalized all arrangements for the upcoming two-day 2nd SMIU Global Research Congress-2024, scheduled for February 28 and 29, focusing on the theme of “Re-envisioning with Nature Inspired Smart Communities”. The event aims to bring together distinguished scholars from across Pakistan and around the world to discuss and present their research in various fields.

According to Sindh Madressatul Islam University, the congress will be inaugurated on Wednesday at the Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium, marking the beginning of a series of discussions and presentations. Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, the Vice Chancellor of SMIU, highlighted the university’s commitment to promoting research and utilizing its resources for academic activities. Since taking over as Vice Chancellor in 2020, Dr. Sahrai has emphasized the importance of research and the utilization of the historic buildings of SMIU for such endeavors.

The 2nd SMIU Global Research Congress will feature six international conferences covering different subjects, with contributions from six prominent research scholars from abroad and six from other provinces of the country. Notable participants include Prof. Dr. Keith Barton from Indiana University, USA, Ms. Shajara Ul-Durar from the University of Sunderland, United Kingdom, and Dr. Solnyshkina Marina Ivanovna from Kazan Federal University, Russia, among others.

Dr. Zahid Ali Channar, the Convener of the 2nd SMIU GRC, revealed that the congress will host 49 panelists across nine panel discussion sessions, alongside 140 technical sessions organized by various faculties of the university. Approximately 1000 research scholars are expected to participate in the congress, which will also include online sessions and simultaneous sessions across 19 venues within three buildings of SMIU.

The event will also precede a workshop on R, conducted by Dr. Irfan Haider Shakri from RMIT Vietnam, aiming to prepare participants for the congress discussions. Members of the SMIU community, including Dr. Jamshed Adil Halepoto, Dr. Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, and Dr. Abdul Hafeez Khan, have expressed their support and anticipation for the successful execution of the congress.

The 2nd SMIU Global Research Congress-2024 represents a significant effort by Sindh Madressatul Islam University to foster an environment of academic excellence and research innovation, further establishing its role as a leading institution in Pakistan’s educational landscape.
