Karachi, The Sindh High Court has ruled in favor of 50 students from SM Law College, directing their inclusion in the university’s enrollment list after their exclusion was challenged in court. The decision, stemming from a constitutional petition, emphasizes the fundamental right to education and its intrinsic link to the right to life.
According to Pasban Democratic Party, the legal action was initiated on behalf of Fatima Quaid and other affected students who were initially omitted from the enrollment list for upcoming examinations. The petition, spearheaded by Pasban’s lawyer Khurram Lakhani, argued that the exclusion of these students violated their fundamental rights to education and due legal process. The court’s decision affirmed that education is a fundamental right that the state must uphold, marking a significant victory for the students and setting a precedent for future educational rights cases.
