Punjab University VC Emphasizes Importance of Co-curricular Activities for Student Development

Lahore, In a recent address at the opening ceremony of a four-day interdepartmental co-curricular competition, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood highlighted the essential role of co-curricular activities in fostering a competitive spirit and tolerance among students. The event, organized by the Punjab University Directorate of Students Affairs, took place at Al Raazi Hall and saw the participation of faculty members and a large number of students.

According to University of The Punjab, VC Dr. Khalid Mahmood stressed that co-curricular activities are crucial for enhancing students’ self-confidence, communication skills, and other abilities, making them an integral part of the educational curriculum. He advocated for continuous learning and praised the efforts of the PU Directorate of Students Affairs in organizing the event despite resource constraints. The VC expressed hope that the platform would enable students to achieve excellence and bring honor to both Pakistan and Punjab University.

Dr. Muhammad Ali Kalasra, Director of Students Affairs, noted that this was the first time in nearly five years that such competitions had been organized, thanks to VC Dr. Khalid Mahmood’s guidance and vision. He detailed the wide range of competitions students from various departments would participate in, including Qiraat, essay writing, poetry, parliamentary debates, bilingual speeches, quiz, naat, national songs, and English poetry competitions.

The initiative underscores Punjab University’s commitment to the holistic development of its students, recognizing the value of co-curricular activities in building a well-rounded and competitive student body.
