Punjab University Literary Society Triumphs at National Poetry Competition

Lahore, The Punjab University Literary Society achieved remarkable success at the ‘Majlis-e-Mabhiha’ All-Pakistan Faiz Ahmed Faiz Poetry Competition 2024, hosted by Government College University Lahore. The society not only won multiple top positions but also secured the team trophy, highlighting its members’ literary talents.

According to University of the Punjab, individual members of the society excelled in various categories of the competition. Imtiaz Anjum clinched the first position in Urdu Ghazal and also secured the second place in the sub-word category. Hadia Khalid earned the second spot in Urdu Poem, while Ilyas Abbas Sanwal and Asif Mahmood Asif together took second place in Bait Bazi, a game of poetic verses.

The event celebrated the legacy of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, one of Pakistan’s most esteemed poets, by bringing together young poets from across the nation to showcase their mastery of Urdu poetry. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Khalid Mahmood, along with Dr. Muhammad Ali Kalasra, Director of Student Affairs, and Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Director of the Institute of Urdu Language and Literature, extended their congratulations to the team for their outstanding performance.
