Punjab University Inaugurates All-Pakistan T-20 Cricket Tournament

Lahore, Punjab University took a leap in blending academics with sports by launching the All-Pakistan T-20 Cricket Tournament at the New Campus Cricket Ground. Addressing the gathering during the opening ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood emphasized the pivotal role of sports in ensuring physical well-being and cognitive development.

According to a news release by the University of the Punjab, the cricketing event is a joint venture between Punjab University and 47Sports. The ceremony saw participation from numerous officials and enthusiasts, including Director PU Sports Department Prof Dr Zaffar Iqbal Butt, Additional Director Zubair Butt, Director Students Affairs Dr Muhammad Ali Klasra, Mian Bilal Khalid, and Rahat Abbas. Dr Khalid Mahmood lauded the efforts of the Punjab University Sports Department for orchestrating the event in alliance with the Pakistan Cricket Board and other organizations. He assured that Punjab University is committed to fostering sports endeavours alongside its educational pursuits.

Dr Zaffar Iqbal Butt, Director of Sports, expressed his gratitude towards Dr Khalid Mehmood for the unwavering support from the administration. He mentioned that they are steadfast in instilling a culture of positive engagements among Punjab University students by collaborating with various external entities. The tournament will feature 16 teams, comprised of first-class and national players. The champion team will receive a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 1 lakh.
