Lahore, The Punjab University Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) has taken an initiative to bridge technology and agriculture by organizing a seminar titled ‘Machine Learning Fundamentals and its Application in Agriculture’. The event took place at the Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology’s seminar hall.
According to a news release by the University of the Punjab, the seminar saw participation from a diverse group of academicians and experts. Director ORIC, Prof Dr Shakil Ahmed, and Dr Ali Zia, a scientist from the Biological Data Science Institute at Australian National University, were among the notable attendees. Other distinguished participants included Deputy Director Dr Aqil Inam, Dr Khalid Mahmood, and Dr Muhammad Irfan, along with faculty members and PhD scholars. Dr Ali Zia was the principal resource person and shared an in-depth perspective on the subject, elucidating both the fundamental and applied aspects of machine learning in agriculture.
Dr Shakil highlighted the primary objective behind organizing the seminar: to underscore the significance of machine learning in agriculture and to encourage faculty to acquaint themselves with emerging technologies. After Dr Zia’s insightful lecture, the event transitioned into an interactive question and answer session, allowing attendees to engage directly with the expert on the topic.
