President Zardari Witnesses MoUs to Boost Pakistan’s Agriculture and Environment

Shanghai: President Asif Ali Zardari, alongside First Lady Aseefa Bhutto Zardari and Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, attended the signing of three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s agricultural, environmental, and mass transit sectors.

The agreements, signed in Shanghai, signal cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese organizations to address critical areas of development in Pakistan. Notable attendees included Senator Saleem Mandviwalla and representatives from both countries’ diplomatic and ministerial ranks.

The first MoU focuses on creating a Controlled Agriculture Science and Education Park, involving Shanghai Huawei Agritech Group and Meskay and Femtee Trading Co. This initiative aims to boost agricultural productivity and ensure food security, with Mr. Shahid Tawawalla representing Pakistan.

A second agreement outlines plans to establish Shennong College, a vocational institute in Pakistan designed to introduce advanced agricultural technology and training. The partnership includes Longping High-Tech Information Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd, Beijing Jialong Technology Co., Ltd, and ASM Services.

The third MoU involves a Tyre Recycling Project, which will support environmentally sustainable waste management. Maritime Silk Road Holdings (Qingdao) Co., Ltd and ASM Services are the main signatories, aiming to promote ecological practices.

President Zardari commented that the agreements represent a significant move towards enhanced cooperation with China in agriculture, technology, and environmental management. The signing ceremony also featured the presence of Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, and Sindh Ministers Sharjeel Inam Memon and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.
