Rawalpindi: Parliamentary Secretary Information and Culture Department Ms. Shazia Rizwan has visited the Punjab Pavilion built at the Lok Mela by Punjab Arts Council. Executive Director Punjab Arts Council Muhammad Tanvir Majid and Director Arts Council Sajjad Hussain welcomed the Parliamentary Secretary on her arrival in Punjab pavilion. Shazia Rizwan said on this occasion that handicrafts are a regular industry in Punjab. Presenting artisans from across the province at the national level is undoubtedly an achievement of the Punjab Arts Council. Artisans from every part of the province have been invited to the Punjab Pavilion to represent the entire province.
According to Punjab Arts Council, Executive Director Muhammad Tanvir Majid briefed the Parliamentary Secretary, highlighting that Punjab is a culturally rich province where many cultures are prevalent. The Government of Punjab is rendering valuable services for promoting art and culture in the province. Fifty skilled artisans from across the province have been invited to the Punjab Pavilion. Folk artists from all corners of Punjab are performing in the festival. Bhangra, Ladi, Jhomar, and Simi folk dances are also part of the Punjab Pavilion. The historical building of “Chouburgi” and the glimpse of a traditional village also add to the glory of Punjab Pavilion.
Parliamentary Secretary Shazia Rizwan visited all the stalls along with the Executive Director and praised the artisans for their skills. Director Arts Council Sajjad Hussain stated that the Punjab Pavilion will entertain the folk music lovers along with handicrafts from morning till night. Foreign visitors are entertained with green bread and lassi at traditional food stalls. The Lok Mela will continue till November 17.
