Pakistan Study Centre at University of the Punjab Explores the Palestine Issue in Seminar

Lahore, The Pakistan Study Centre at the University of the Punjab held a seminar titled “Palestine Issue: Past and Present” on May 21, 2024, featuring retired Professor Dr. Moeen Mazhar, former Principal of Oriental College at the university, as the keynote speaker. The event, attended by faculty members and advanced scholars, delved into the historical complexities and current challenges of the Palestine issue.

According to University of the Punjab, Prof. Dr. Mazhar Moeen opened the seminar with a discussion on the geopolitical history of the Palestine region, focusing on the rise of Islam and the subsequent establishment of the state of Israel on what is traditionally known as Bait ul Maqdas. He emphasized the historical underpinnings of the region’s conflicts and the consequences of a lack of unity and foresight among Muslims. His lecture, rich in historical insight, encouraged participants to deeply explore all historical sources and maintain a critical perspective towards historical narratives.

Prof. Dr. Naumana Kiran, Director of the Pakistan Study Centre, presided over the session, welcoming the guests and participants and highlighting the importance of academic discussions on sensitive geopolitical issues.
