WELLINGTON: New Zealand has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match One Day International (ODI) series against Pakistan, with Tom Latham set to lead the team. Notably absent from the lineup is regular white-ball captain Mitchell Santner, who is engaged in Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments.
The squad features a blend of experience and new talent, with eight players having been part of New Zealand’s ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 team. Nick Kelly and left-arm pacer Muhammad Abbas, both from Wellington Firebirds, are the latest additions, earning their first call-ups to the national side.
Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips will also miss the series due to IPL commitments, while veteran Kane Williamson remains unavailable for selection. In Williamson’s absence, Will Young is expected to open the batting alongside Kelly, with Daryl Mitchell, Michael Bracewell, and Nathan Smith forming the middle order.
The bowling lineup includes a four-prong pace attack featuring Will O’Rourke, Jacob Duffy, Nathan Smith, and Ben Sears. Matt Henry is currently rehabilitating a right shoulder injury, and Kyle Jamieson is being rested for workload management.
In the spin department, all-rounder Michael Bracewell will be joined by Adi Ashok, a 22-year-old leg spinner from Auckland Aces, who will make his second appearance in an ODI squad.
The first ODI is scheduled for March 29 at McLean Park in Napier, with the second match also set at the same venue on April 2, and the final game at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, on April 5.
