National Technology Council Evaluates New Engineering Programs at DECE

Islamabad: In a significant move, the National Technology Council (NTC) conducted a comprehensive visit to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE) at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET). The primary focus of the visit was the interim evaluation of the Bachelors of Engineering Technology (Computer) program, alongside the inaugural assessment of two newly introduced programs in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security.

The delegation from NTC comprised eminent figures, including Prof. Dr. Umair Abdullah, who served as the convener and expert in AI technology, Prof. Dr. Saud Altaf, a specialist in computer technology, Prof. Dr. Yasar Amin, an authority in cyber security technology, and Hafiz Ghulam Muhammad, representing NTC. They were received with great hospitality by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Dean of FET and Director of ORIC, Dr. Ihsan ul Haq, Chairman of DECE, and Dr. Baber Khan, who leads the Engineering Technology Programs at DECE.

Throughout the visit, the NTC team meticulously examined program specifics and scrutinized the facilities available. Interactive discussions held with faculty members and students provided deeper insights into the programs’ dynamics. Moreover, the team engaged with various administrative departments and held a formal meeting with Prof. Dr. Abdul Raheman, Vice President of Academics, Administration, and Finance.

The visiting delegation commended the initiative to launch new engineering technology programs in such progressive and contemporary fields. They were notably impressed with the infrastructure and resources at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), pledging their unwavering support to ensure the programs’ success.

In response, the DECE team conveyed their strong dedication and zeal to manage these programs efficiently, underscoring their high morale and commitment to excellence.
