HARIPUR, The first two-day National Agritech Expo at the University of Haripur concluded successfully, bringing together students, schools, and colleges from across Pakistan. The event, marked by a dynamic display of culture and innovation, was a significant platform for showcasing talent and exchanging ideas in the field of agricultural technology.
According to The University of Haripur, the event was characterized by a series of captivating stage performances, including cultural acts by students from Haripur’s Grandeur Genesis School System and traditional music displays featuring Rabab and Tabla. The cultural diversity was further enriched by Pasban Public School, Haripur, which presented a Gilgit cultural dance and a cultural walk, representing various cultures of Pakistan.
One of the highlights of the Expo was the Agritech Idea Competition, which saw 28 competitors pitching their innovative ideas to a distinguished panel of judges. The judges included Dr. Muhammad Israr from the Pakistan Science Foundation, Kasid Ahmed of Mashmoom Industries Hatar, and Dr. Bilal Mirza of Pak-Austria University. The competition ended with three outstanding ideas being awarded cash prizes of Rs. 1 lakh each, and all participants received Certificates of Participation.
The event drew significant attention and attendance from various parts of Pakistan. Dr. Mohammad Jahangir, ORIC Director, and Prof. Dr. Shafiq-ur -Rehman, Vice-Chancellor of Haripur University, emphasized the Expo’s role in promoting agricultural development and innovation.
The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Shahzad Ali Khan, Vice-Chancellor of Health Service Academy Islamabad, and the Chief Guest Secretary of Agriculture KP. They congratulated Prof. Dr. Shafiq-ur -Rehman for organizing such a pivotal event and underscored the importance of hosting similar expos across the country to foster agricultural innovation.
Prof. Dr. Abid Farid, in his concluding remarks, extended his thanks to the organizers, guests, and sponsors, including Akora Seed, Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited, Qarshi, and Star Society UOH, for their support in making the Expo a success. The University of Haripur reaffirmed its commitment to promoting platforms for idea exchange and advancing agricultural innovation in Pakistan.
