Rawalpindi, The Mukhtar Students Organization (MSO) of Pakistan has voiced a strong demand for substantial reforms in the national education system, targeting modern relevancy and the removal of biases. This comes in the wake of criticism of the current government’s handling of educational policies and the inefficacy of newly proposed measures like student councils.
According to Tehreek Nafaze Fiqhe Jafariya, Syed Ali Naqi Naqvi, Central President of MSO, has criticized the Prime Minister’s recent declarations of an educational emergency as mere political rhetoric. He also highlighted the ongoing issues under the current administration, such as the scarcity of textbooks and the government’s inadequate response to the educational concerns of students and parents in Punjab. Furthermore, Naqvi argues that the initiative to establish student councils in schools, ostensibly to foster student involvement, lacks substance and is vulnerable to political manipulation unless safeguards are implemented.
The organization’s calls for reform were formalized during a key meeting under Naqvi’s leadership, where the need for an education system that reflects the fundamental and constitutional rights without controversial content was emphasized. This meeting, also a swearing-in ceremony for the new MSO cabinet in Islamabad, underscored the organization’s commitment to a ‘pure practical struggle’ for educational reform. Syed Muhammad Abbas Kazmi, Chairman of MSO, urged the new officials to maintain integrity and connection with the Shiite community in their educational outreach.
