Mayor Karachi Inaugurates Reconstruction of Bakhtiari Youth Center

Karachi, In a significant move towards enhancing sports facilities in Karachi, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab announced the commencement of reconstruction work at the Bakhtiari Youth Center in North Nazimabad. This development, part of a broader initiative by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), aims to uplift the city’s sporting infrastructure, providing the youth with world-class facilities.

According to the Bakhtiari Youth Center, Mayor Wahab highlighted PPP’s commitment to working across all districts of Karachi, emphasizing the non-partisan approach in city development. The Bakhtiari Youth Center’s reconstruction, valued at Rs. 60 crore, is a testament to this commitment, particularly in enhancing sports opportunities for the youth. The project includes building a cricket ground and a football stadium equipped with modern amenities such as digital scoreboards, floodlights, and player pavilions.

Mayor Wahab contrasted the current efforts with previous administrations, asserting that the current work surpasses past endeavors in the central district. He credited PPP with various ongoing projects, including an underpass near Meena Bazar, inauguration of Iqbal Park, new bus services in Shahr e Quaid, and the tendering of the yellow line project. The Mayor’s visit to the youth center also featured PPP district central President Masroor Ahsan, General Secretary Dil Muhammad, and other local leaders.

In his address, Mayor Wahab emphasized the potential of the Central District in producing sports talent, particularly in cricket. He expressed confidence that the upgraded facilities would foster new sports talents who can shine internationally. The project also includes environmental considerations, with a drainage system planned to manage rainwater effectively.

In a broader critique of city governance, Wahab questioned past decisions, including the restoration of the circular railway and energy projects. He urged for a collaborative approach among city institutions for better governance and highlighted PPP’s efforts in correcting the census for equitable city development.

The Mayor’s remarks concluded with a call for unity and a focus on public interest over personal or group politics. He emphasized PPP’s dedication to addressing the city’s challenges through constructive actions rather than engaging in mere criticism and propaganda.
