Islamabad: An urgent coordination meeting was held at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to address the concerns arising from a leopard’s reported presence near the campus. The meeting aimed to assess safety measures and plan future actions in collaboration with the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB).
According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the meeting was chaired by the Vice President of Administration and Finance and included senior university officials and IWMB representatives. Among the participants were CSO IWMB Col. (R) Muhammad Ali Haider and other key university figures. The discussion focused on evaluating the situation through technical recommendations and an operational plan shared by IWMB.
As part of the safety measures, the university, guided by IWMB, has arranged for the installation of white halogen lamps and tasers to enhance surveillance and prevent the leopard’s entry into populated areas. The Vice President emphasized the university’s commitment to addressing the issue responsibly and in accordance with IWMB’s plan.
The participants reiterated IIUI’s dedication to ensuring the safety of its community and expressed confidence in managing the situation through expert-led strategies. The university highlighted the need for continued coordination and anticipated further operational phases from IWMB to safely capture and manage the wild animal.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to maintain ongoing communication with IWMB and to keep safety measures under continuous review until the situation is resolved.
