JUI Leaders Decry Proposed Electricity Price Hikes in Karachi Amidst Inflation

Karachi, Leaders from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Pakistan expressed strong opposition to proposed increases in electricity prices, describing them as an added burden on citizens already struggling with inflation and frequent load shedding.

According to Jamiat Ulema Islam, Central Deputy Secretary General Hafiz Ahmad Ali and President of the Youth Wing for Sindh, Rana Mohammad Sabir, voiced their concerns during a gathering to welcome them back from Islamabad. They argued that the price hikes represent severe oppression for the populace, vowing not to remain silent and to soon prepare a plan for protests. The leaders highlighted that residents of Karachi are already overwhelmed by high costs and inadequate services, facing severe load shedding in extreme heat without any relief.

The JUI leaders called for the government to reduce, rather than increase, electricity rates to align with what citizens can afford, and urged immediate action to alleviate the hardships faced by the public due to ongoing power outages and the escalating cost of living.
