Pasban Democratic Party Calls for End to Over-billing by Electricity Companies

Karachi, The leader of the Pasban Democratic Party Karachi, Sardar Zulfiqar, has raised concerns about the prevalent issue of electricity over-billing, demanding that the authority to over-bill be stripped from electricity companies, which he claims are exploiting consumers.

According to Pasban Democratic Party, Sardar Zulfiqar criticized the arbitrary billing practices of these companies, particularly highlighting how discrepancies in monthly electricity usage are handled. He questioned the legal basis for granting these companies the power to charge consumers excessively based on comparisons to past consumption. Zulfiqar detailed how consumers face significant financial burdens and are often treated poorly when they attempt to resolve billing issues.

He also suggested that before taking any action on low bills, which might suggest electricity theft, a thorough investigation should be conducted. This involves visiting the consumer’s home for verification. The Pasban leader emphasized the need for educating the public about their rights to prevent exploitation by utility providers and called for strict actions against actual cases of electricity theft.
