Islamia University of Bahawalpur ORIC Team Engages with Local Chamber on GMO Import Licensing

Bahawalpur: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, Director of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at The Islamia University of Bahawalpur, along with his team, met with leaders of the Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss the process for obtaining licenses for the import of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) for use in feed and processing.

According to The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Pakistan, the meeting included prominent figures such as Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali Maan, President of the Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Discussions focused on streamlining and understanding the regulatory requirements necessary for importing GMOs. The delegation from the university also included Hanif Ahmed, Senior Vice President, Adeel Khalid, Vice President, and several past and present chamber members like Malik Muhammad Ijaz Nazim, Javed Iqbal Chaudhry, Muhammad Munib Malik, Bilal Sattar Chaudhry, Sajjad Haider, and Naseer Ahmed Nasir.

The engagement highlights the university’s proactive role in fostering collaboration with local industry leaders to facilitate the import process of genetically engineered products, which are critical for the agricultural sector in the region.
