BAHAWALPUR, In a prestigious acknowledgment of academic excellence, 27 professors from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have been included in the list of the top 2% of scientists worldwide by Stanford University. A certificate distribution ceremony was held to honour these researchers for their contributions to science and their potential impact on the country’s socioeconomic development.
According to the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Commissioner Bahawalpur Division Dr. Ehtesham Anwar praised the recognized scientists at the ceremony, emphasizing the critical role that such researchers can play in national development. Dr. Anwar also assured the divisional and district administration’s full support for the university’s ongoing and future research endeavours. The ceremony highlighted the Islamia University’s commitment to research, evidenced by their assistance to government agencies on environmental issues, particularly concerning the air quality index in Bahawalpur.
The Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur, Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, reiterated the university’s distinguished status in research within scientific and social sciences fields. The Director of Research, Innovation and Commercialization at the university, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, detailed recent achievements, including approval from the Higher Education Commission for the ORIC, the publication of 2351 papers, progression of 52 research projects, operation of 7 commercial-scale laboratories, approval of 3 patents, and development of 6 patents, along with the recognition of 15 research journals by the Higher Education Commission.
The event was attended by key faculty members, and Commissioner Bahawalpur Dr. Ehtesham Anwar, together with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, presented certificates to the esteemed professors across various departments, acknowledging their significant academic contributions.
