Islamabad Seminar Condemns Indian Supreme Court Decision on Kashmir as Major Human Rights Violation

Islamabad, At a recent seminar held in Islamabad, Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, criticized the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. The seminar, titled “Freedom, Equality and Justice for All,” was jointly organized by the International Islamic University (IIUI) and the Parliamentary Commission for Human Rights at the university’s new campus.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the seminar focused on the human rights situation in regions like Gaza and Kashmir, with special attention on the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). SAPM Mullick highlighted the excessive use of force, arbitrary detentions, and restrictions on freedom of expression in IIOJK, calling for a sustainable solution to the longstanding conflict.

Mr. Justice Dr. Muhammad Syed Anwer, Aalim Judge of the Federal Shariat Court, Islamabad, also addressed the seminar, emphasizing the role of educational institutions like IIUI in promoting human rights awareness. He elaborated on the concept of human rights in the light of Islamic principles and commended the university for organizing the event, which saw active participation from students, faculty members, and human rights activists.

Dr. Muhammad Raheem Awan, Secretary of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, pointed out the human rights violations faced by people in Palestine and Kashmir, expressing concern over the lack of global attention to these atrocities.

Prof. Dr. Samina Malik, Rector of IIUI, spoke on the importance of freedom, equality, and justice as foundational pillars of civilized nations and the role of educational institutions in raising awareness about human rights.

The seminar unanimously condemned the human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir. The speakers demanded the reversal of India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir to enable the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination.

The event was attended by prominent media personalities, women’s rights activists, politicians, faculty members, and a large number of students, reflecting a broad base of support for the cause of human rights in Kashmir.
