Islamabad Academics Complete UK Training to Enhance PhD Supervision

Islamabad, Two faculty members from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) have successfully completed an advanced UK training program aimed at building capacity for PhD supervisors. The training, part of a collaborative initiative, is expected to significantly boost the quality of doctoral research supervision at the university.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, Prof. Dr. Saeed Badshah and Dr. Shamaila Sajjad participated in the program held at Coventry University, which was a joint effort involving the British Council, the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The closing session of the training was graced by prominent figures such as Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayum from HEC and Prof. Dr. Ian Dunn from Coventry University.

The selection of these IIUI faculty members for the prestigious training was orchestrated by the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (ORIC) at IIUI, which provided continuous support. The intensive program in the UK followed an initial workshop in Islamabad and a subsequent “Master Trainers Capacity Building” phase. With their new designation as Master Trainers, Prof. Dr. Badshah and Dr. Sajjad are now entrusted with the crucial task of elevating the expertise of PhD supervisors across Pakistan.
