Karachi, The Institute of Business Management (IoBM) recently conducted the 10th Corporate Advisory Committee/Industrial Advisory Board (CAC/IAB) meeting of its Electrical Engineering Department. Held on December 2, 2023, in the Rose Training Hall, SSK Building, the event brought together distinguished guests from various industrial sectors to discuss curriculum development and industry engagement.
According to Institute of Business Management, the meeting, initiated with a recitation and welcome address by Dr. Muhammad Imran Majid, Associate Professor and Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, included key industry figures like Mr. Hira Lal, President of Rotary Club Karachi; Mr. Asif Siddiqui, CEO of Sigma Ventures (Pvt) Ltd; and Mr. Irfan Ahmad, an Energy Sector Consultant, among others.
Dr. Majid introduced the BS Technology Management (BS TM) program, highlighting its focus on preparing students for a sustainable digital future. He emphasized the positive industry response to the program and discussed proposed curriculum updates under the continuous quality improvement (CQI) process. The meeting also served as a platform for guest feedback, crucial for the program’s enhancement and securing industry support. Renewable energy was underscored as a key focus area, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical knowledge.
The meeting featured a request for guest speaker participation in the upcoming Spring semester, with Mr. Irfan, Mr. Syed Adeel Ur Rehman, and Mr. Noorali Amarsi volunteering for the role. The event concluded with presentations by two final-year student groups from the Electrical Engineering program, who presented their projects on the Internet of Things (IoT) and garbage segregation and removal, receiving constructive feedback from the industry professionals.
