IIUI Engineering Students Gain Industry Insight at Attock Refineries

Rawalpindi: Students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the International Islamic University Islamabad recently visited Attock Refineries Limited, providing them with practical exposure to industrial operations.

According to International Islamic University Islamabad, the visit was organized by Engr. Muhammad Asif and accompanied by Dr. Asad Asghar Janjua. The students, from both BS Mechanical Engineering and B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering Technology programs, toured the refinery complex and power house. They observed real-time operations and learned about maintenance regimes, workshop management, and safety practices.

During the tour, Attock Refineries Limited engineers provided technical briefings on maintenance, equipment reliability, and operational coordination. The emphasis was on practical problem-solving and adherence to safety standards. Students gained insights into how classroom theories are applied in operational procedures.

The visit also focused on career development, with ARL representatives discussing internship programs, trainee schemes, and employment pathways for graduates. A question-and-answer session allowed students to seek advice on career planning.

Dr. Asad Asghar Janjua noted that the visit helped students understand the operational realities of a major refinery and the skills necessary for success in the industry. This event is part of the department's efforts to connect academia with industry and improve employability for graduating engineers.
