ICC Unveils October Player of the Month Contenders

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the nominees for the October Player of the Month awards for both men and women. The men’s shortlist includes standout performers from the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup: Jasprit Bumrah (India), Quinton de Kock (South Africa), and Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand). The women’s category features Bangladesh’s Nahida Akter, New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr, and West Indies’ Hayley Matthews.

According to International Cricket Council, Jasprit Bumrah displayed exceptional bowling in India’s campaign, contributing to their unbeaten start. Quinton de Kock’s impressive run-scoring streak for South Africa included three century scores. Rachin Ravindra made a notable debut at the World Cup for New Zealand with memorable centuries against England and Australia.

In the women’s category, Bangladesh’s Nahida Akter is nominated for her outstanding bowling performances against Pakistan. Amelia Kerr showcased her all-round skills with significant contributions in ODI and T20I formats. Hayley Matthews, the West Indies all-rounder, is recognized for her notable performances in the series in Australia.

The winners, to be announced next week, will be decided through votes by the independent ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide. The Academy comprises journalists, former players, broadcasters, and members of the ICC Hall of Fame. Fans can vote until Thursday at icc-cricket.com/awards.

– Rachin Ravindra (New Zealand): 406 runs at an average of 81.20, with impressive performances against top teams.

Women’s Category:

– Nahida Akter (Bangladesh): Exceptional bowling against Pakistan, including a five-wicket haul.

– Amelia Kerr (New Zealand): Significant batting contributions in ODI and T20I series against South Africa.

– Hayley Matthews (West Indies): 310 runs and five wickets in the T20I series against Australia.

The ICC Player of the Month awards celebrate outstanding international cricket performances and contribute to the sport’s global recognition and fan engagement.
