Gujrat: The voter registration rate in Gujrat has reached 68% of its estimated 2025 population, significantly surpassing the national average of 54%.
According to the Free and Fair Election Network, these figures are based on electoral roll statistics released by the Election Commission of Pakistan on December 30, 2025. The data was cross-referenced with population estimates from the 2023 Digital Census. Gujrat's estimated 2025 population of 3,390,941 was calculated using a 2.63% annual growth rate applied to the 2023 census base population of 3,219,375. The district boasts 2.3 million registered voters, with a gender composition of 52.1% males and 47.9% females.
Gujrat's voter registration rate places it third nationally and second within Punjab. The high registration rate is attributed to two methods used in the 2023 Digital Census: the exclusion of household members absent for more than six months from being enumerated at their home address and the recording of individuals at their current address rather than their original household. This method affected districts like Gujrat, where labor migration to urban centers such as Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad is prevalent. Consequently, these individuals remain registered in Gujrat based on their permanent CNIC address, resulting in a smaller population denominator and a higher registration ratio.
Despite the district's strong overall registration rate, female voters make up 47.9% of the electorate, showing a gender gap of 4.2%. Efforts to achieve equitable female registration continue to be important.
